Frequently Asked Questions
1. How long do I need to get my wedding dress?
We custom make a great selection of gowns and have a small range for hire depending on the size. For bride's who choose a custom made gown, each gown is made to measure so ideally you should order your gown at least 4 - 6 months before your wedding. It can take anything up to 14 weeks to get your order in stock and invariably your dress will need some alterations, so you need to leave time for this as well.
2. What if I gain or lose weight before my wedding?
There's very little we can do to make a gown larger if you put weight on and we recommend you try not to stress yourself out by losing too much weight. Its always better to maintain your normal eating and exercise habits throughout the fitting process. If you lose weight you can always have your dress adjusted during the fitting process but it is less stressful on you and your body if you can keep to your normal healthy eating habits. Also, it is best not to try and lose weight for a wedding, remember your fiancé loves you just the way you are and you will look and feel beautiful on your wedding day - we promise!
3. What's the best time to come and do I need an appointment?
Its always a good time to visit during the week if you can. Please call or send an e-mail so that your free fitting session can be booked and you have my attention all to yourself. Please be assured that the appointment is booked entirely for you and no other brides will come during your allotted time.
4. What if I live outside the Western Cape?
If you live far away - we would still love to help you. Send us a picture of you (front, side and back view) and your "dream gown options". We will suggest the best gown to suit your shape. We then send you a measurement chart, ask a friend to measure you and we will do the rest. We haven't had a disaster yet!. Have a look at question 6 as well.
5. How do I know the right style for my size and body shape?
That's what we're here for. Once you know what shape you are, we can go about finding the perfect gown to flatter your figure and enhance your curves. Don't worry, once we are done, you will feel like the princess you deserve to be on such an important day!
6. I don't live near you... Is there any way I can get your advice from a distance?
Yes we can. The first step is to get in contact with us, let us know your ideas and we'll ask your for a photograph of yourself. We can then keep in touch and "chat" to you either via e-mail or msn and do all the things we would normally do - a body analysis, gown and colour suggestions, bouquet and veil advice - just as if you were visiting us (except we can only offer you cyber champagne/coffee and you can't try on any gowns!).
We'll then send you a form of body measurements that we need and voila - we'll send you your gown! Have a look at question 4 as well
7. I have needs based on my religion or I'm looking for a modern but modest wedding gown. Can you help?
We respect your beliefs and we cater for the Muslim/Islamic needs as well as Jewish or for those who would simply like to have a modest but modern gown. Have a look at our Modest range on the gowns page but we are also able to re-design any gown to be suit your needs.
8. Does M Couture ever hire out their gowns?
Its something that we get asked quite often, its a little more of a challenge due to the various body shapes. We do have gowns for hire depending on the size. Please chat to us about your needs or budget and we can always make a plan and try to help you.
